Job Description
  • Institutional Securities Technology (IS Tech) develop and oversee the overall technology strategy and bespoke technology solutions to drive and enable the Institutional businesses and enterprise-wide functions. Our clients include Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Investment Banking, Research and Global Capital Markets as well as Operations, HR and Corporate Services
  • This is a Java middleware developer position with the Equity Swaps Technology Group of Morgan Stanley Advantage Services (MSAS). The candidate will contribute to front to back systems used by swaps desk to manage life cycle of an equity swap trade. The work includes handling tactical requirements from Trading Desk, delivering strategic initiatives for business and regular interaction with global team including traders, operations, trade support groups & financial controllers. The position gives candidate an opportunity to learn about Equity Swaps, design and develop for new business requirements, and deliver to client/business needs leveraging technical and analytical skills. Although the role is predominantly Java, we require someone who is flexible with the development environment, as some days you might be writing Java, and other days you might be fixing stored procedures

  • Qualifications,The ideal candidate should have:,* A minimum of 2 years of experience in Core Java/Middleware application development,* Expertise in Java (Level 4), RDBMS (Level 3), XML (Level 2) and Unix (Level 3),* Practical experience in the Agile development methodology,* A solid understanding of object oriented design practices and ability to apply design practices to real business problems
  • * A thorough understanding of message based architectures,* Excellent oral and written communication skills,* A self-starter mindset with strong leadership skills and team-oriented goals,* A keen interest in learning the business and applying new and existing technologies to solve business challenges, increase revenue, and reduce operational risk,* Previous Equity Swaps or financial product knowledge is *not* required,Skills Desired:,* Database knowledge with experience writing queries (e.g. Sybase, DB2, KDB,or equivalents),* Knowledge of messaging solutions (e.g. Apache Kafka or IBM MQ),Responsibilities:,* Actively contribute code to global technology initiatives in support of the Equity Swaps business,* Partner with multiple user groups (e.g. Traders, Operations, Trade-Support groups) to translate business requirements into functional specifications,* Drive analysis, design, build, test, and deployment phases with global development team(s) and related Business/Operations group(s) using the Agile methodology,* Adhere to and enforce change management standards to minimize technology risk,* Partner closely with business groups to identify and rectify process issues,* Evolve to subject matter expertise (SME) status to foster knowledge sharing within the development community
