Job Description

• Key Responsibilities Under the guidance of a Development Manager work directly with allocated Project Managers Business Analysts and external IT and business teams to implement change requests and new features. Take responsibility for changes that go through multiple tiers from the Java application through to the back-end databases. Write server-side code to implement business logic. Write and amend stored procedures in the Sybase/Oracle databases. Utilize standards architectures and processes to ensure that all code and development practices conform to company guidelines and industry best practices Participate in all aspects of the project lifecycle following stringent rules and procedures for testing and promoting code in compliance with company change control processes Provide third level support for the existing systems where required. Challenges Contractor will be facing in this role Excellent organizational problem solving and written/verbal communication skills. Java developer with 5-7 years of experience Experience with Apache Spark Minimum of 2 years of DB experience (Sybase preferred) Knowledge and understanding of current best practices in Java 8 development Demonstrable experience of good OO design and programming Experience with all phases of the systems development lifecycle understanding of agile methods Cross location working experience. Understanding of standard change control policies and procedures and ideally experience working in an IT environment with change control procedures. Essentials Skills and Qualifications 1. Awareness of test-driven development and design 2. Experience of working in a continuous integration environment (TeamCity) 3. Experience with Sybase ASE (15) 4. Experience with source control (preferably Subversion) 5. Experience with UNIX (Linux preferred) 6. Experience with Java 8 Desired Skills and Qualifications 1. Business knowledge of Credit Risk (preferable) 2. Experience with source control (preferably Subversion) 3. Experience with UNIX (Linux preferred) 4.
