Principal Software Engineer - File and Protocols

• Principal Software Engineer for File and Protocols Strong technical aptitude problem solving skills and analytical ability. Must have experience programming C/C++ on UNIX operating systems. Strong expertise in Network Attached Storage (NAS) technologies such as File Sharing Protocols and File Systems is must. Must have File Sharing and Network protocols experience such as: CIFS/SMB NFS. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP threads client-server and inter-process communications. Hands on experience with GDB like debugging tools in a Unix Kernel environment. Solid Concepts in Operating Systems Data Structures and Object Oriented Programming is a must. Experience in version control systems. EMC product knowledge of NAS/SAN products preferred UNIX shell/Perl/Python/PHP scripting is desirable. Engineer responsible for Development and Sustenance engineering of EMC VNX VNXe UNITY and other Midrange Solutions product lines. Must be able to propose design code and thoroughly test fixes to address bugs. Should be able to technically lead the team of 4-6 members in the specific area expertise. Utilize diagnostic aids tools test equipment technical documentation and experiential expertise to diagnose and resolve complex storage system problems. Regularly communicate progress toward problem resolution/recovery and RCA. Provide a RCA or review an RCA to ensure accuracy completeness while anticipating and diffusing potential questions. Perform core dump analysis using GNU tools. Effectively and convincingly communicate with EMC and customer personnel of varying technical skill levels to provide technical explanation of problems and corrective action guidance. React with a sense of urgency to customer technical issues to eliminate or decrease customer downtime. Work effectively with cross-functional and/or global teams and readily share information with others. Interface with development engineering on design issues. Work effectively with design engineers to drive bug fixes and product improvements. Promote knowledge creation and contribute to centralized problem identification and resolution knowledge base. Provide increased mentoring support and instruction to less experienced co-workers. Maintain and expand area(s) of technical expertise with both formal and informal training and related hands-on development experience. Become the hands-on technical expert for one or more assigned product / technology areas REQUIREMENTS Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science Ability to technically lead the team in the area of specialization. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills Domain expertise in the NAS/File Systems. 10+ years relevant experience
