To accomplish this the group focuses on linkages of information tools and analytics. Role Outline/Job Summary The role of Principal Analyst is based at GDM Bangalore and reports to the AVP leading the team. The key requirement for the role is the ability to work with data understand the project objectives undertake analysis to accomplish project objectives and present the results in a coherent manner. The individual will possess the ability to work in teams mentor junior resources and display a proactive learning attitude. Job Description Position Title: Principal Analyst (Manager) Business Group: CSIL-GDM Department: GDM Grade/Level: C11 Function/Group: GDM Location: Bangalore Financial/Budgetary: No Individual Contributor (IC)/Managerial: IC Percentage of Travel: No Relocation: Yes Role and Responsibilities Business/Department Objectives: Provide analytic support to the business teams understand the business context and formulate and execute appropriate analytical approach (es) to address the business situation. Independently manage end to end partner communication. Core Responsibilities: Analytic Project Execution: Own and deliver consistently on multiple and complex analytic projects. This would require an understanding of business context and the ability to formulate and execute analytic approaches to address the business situation. Business Knowledge: Develop an understanding of the domain/function. Manage business process (es) in the work area. The individual is expected to develop domain expertise in his/her work area. Capability Development: Participate in initiatives run in GDM for getting the organization ready for the Future. Communication: Effectively communicate strategic considerations with team partners and senior management. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: POC Execution: Work on project/unstructured problems businesses are facing across markets look at providing solutions that go beyond traditional methods Using advanced technologies and new data sources Teamwork: Develop cross site relationships to enhance leverage of ideas. Set and manage partner expectations. Coach and mentor analysts across the site on Next Gen Techniques and Data Sources Communication: Independently manage end to end project communication across the various levels in the organization. Institutionalize the Next Gen Techniques by producing patentable solutions for the organization Keep abreast of the latest developments in the analytic space across industries for potential uses Key Deliverables: Proven problem solving skills in industrial settings is a must Proven ability in model building and application experience in data mining techniques and tools (SAS and/or other modeling packages like R Matlab Mathematica ILOG etc) Competent programming aptitude with excellent computation and data mining skills Expertise in R Exposure to Python SAS SPSS Java. Experience of - Big Data/HADOOP Expertise in HIVE/PIG Java Text Analytics Ability to synthesize unstructured data and find actionable themes/insights exposure to SPSS/Python/R Pattern Mining/Detection Machine Learning Algorithms Understanding of financial domain is preferred Ability to translate and articulate technical thoughts and ideas to a larger audience including influencing skills with peers and senior management Self-motivated to continuously upgrade one s domain knowledge keep abreast of latest developments in the field and evaluate its application in the business area on a consistent basis. Exceptional commitment to stay focused in one s pursuit towards excellence with demonstrated results of the same. Required Education: PhD/Post Doc from a reputed institution in India (IISc IIT s ISI IIM s etc) or Abroad in any advanced quantitative modeling oriented discipline including but not limited to Machine learning Statistics Marketing Science Operations Research Econometrics Stochastic Finance Distributed and parallel computing Digital media analytics etc. Field of post graduation Computer Science Mathematics Operations Research Statistics Econometrics Management Science and related fields. Could be any graduate degree holder. Experience: Strong academic record and publications in reputed journals or conferences. 4-6 years of experience in the field of advanced quantitative techniques while working for leading global academic institutes or corporate innovation research labs or analytics organizations of large corporates or in consulting companies in analytics roles. Exposure to 2 or more of the following fields Big Data/HADOOP Expertise in HIVE/PIG Java Text Analytics Ability to synthesize unstructured data and find actionable themes/insights exposure to SPSS/Python/R Pattern Mining/Detection Exposure to Machine Learning Algorithms Organizational Relationship Reports to Direct: AVP of the team Reports to Matrix: VP/SVP of the team
